Course Description:
Media Literacy is the ability to access, analyze,
evaluate, and communicate information in a variety
of formats. This class explores how the mass
media help construct social reality and how media
use identifiable techniques to communicate
messages. Topics include media theories, ethical
principles associated with media programming, and
the roles of media producers and consumers. A key
component for the course is to determine where
social responsibility lies in relationship to the
mass media.
