Course Description:
A study of fundamental accounting principles and
procedures such as journalizing, posting,
preparation of financial statements, and other
selected topics. Accounting is emphasized as a
service activity designed to provide the
information about economic entities that is
necessary for making sound decisions.

Instructor Biography:
Dr. Curtis (Curt) Gustafson earned a BS Degree in Animal Science and Dairy Science from SDSU in 1976. He received his Master of Professional Accountancy Degree from USD in 1986. In 2004 he earned an EdD in Educational Administration from USD. Curt began his teaching career as a high school vocational agriculture/agribusiness instructor. After teaching high school for several years Curt returned to school to work on a degree in Accounting. After earning his Masters Degree in Accounting and passing the Certified Public Accountant’s Exam Curt worked as a public accountant for three years. Curt joined the SDSU Economics Department Faculty in the fall of 1989. At SDSU Curt’s teaching responsibilities have included Principles of Accounting I and II, Intermediate Accounting I and II, Cost Accounting and Auditing. Curt is a member of the American Accounting Association and the SD Society of CPAs.
